Preparing for Your
Estate Plan Review Consultation
at the Dallas, Texas Estate Planning Law Firm
of Richard P. Johnson, P.C.
Congratulations on taking personal responsibility for keeping your Life & Estate Planning up-to-date and thank you for selecting our firm to assist you. Our Estate Review Protocol is a seven step process, which is described step-by-step below. Reading through these seven steps will acquaint you with our process, our services and the fees associated with your review consultation.
Our Estate Review Protocol
Step One: Once your review consultation is scheduled, you will receive three (3) important documents to complete and return at least one calendar week before your initial consultation. These documents are the Primary Estate Review Issues (51 Questions), the Confidential Client Questionnaire, and the Confidential Asset Summary.
At your option we may send these documents to you either in the US Postal mail or as an e-mail attachment. Alternatively, you may download these PDF documents directly from this website (see below).
- Primary Estate Review Issues
- Confidential Client Questionnaire
- Confidential Asset Summary
- Complete the information to the best of your ability, copy or save each completed document for your records and return each completed document to us by fax (972-526-5845), mail or email (richard@richardjohnsonlaw.com) at least one calendar week before your review consultation.
- If you have difficulties downloading any of these three (3) documents, please call the office for assistance.
Step Two: Please return these three (3) documents at least one calendar week before your review consultation. Note: If we do not receive all three (3) of these documents at least one calendar week before, then we will call to reschedule your review consultation.
Step Three: Before your review consultation, Richard will thoroughly review the three (3) documents. Accordingly, the more considered your responses and the more detailed the information you provide, the more accurate Richard's review and preparation for your review consultation.
Step Four: Please bring your legal documents to the review consultation, since we do not retain originals or copies of signed legal documents, along with a check drawn for $350 to "Richard P. Johnson, P.C."
Step Five: During the review consultation, Richard will confirm his understanding of your responses to the Primary Estate Review Planning Issues (51 Questions) and the other information you provided in the Confidential Client Questionnaire and the Confidential Asset Summary, both clarifying and supplementing as needed. Then, Richard will begin his examination of your legal documents based on the answers and information you provided. In other words, Richard will evaluate whether various life and/or financial events may have affected your legal documents since they were created or last updated. At the same time, Richard will evaluate whether various changes in the law have affected your legal documents since they were created or last updated.
Step Six: At the conclusion of your review consultation, Richard will discuss the results of his analysis of your legal documents during Step Five, to include any problems he may have discovered and their impact on your overall Life & Estate Plan, if left unresolved. Richard will review and explain your options to resolve any such problems, along with the fees associated with each option.
Step Seven: If you want to proceed with any of the changes Richard may recommend, then you and Richard would sign an Engagement Letter detailing the services to be provided and the total fees. You would pay one-half (1/2) of the total fees to bind the Engagement Letter at that time, and we would schedule an appointment to both review and sign your legal documents. The balance of the fees would be due and payable when the legal documents are signed.
